BUSINESSES WITH EXISTING ADVANCES
Existing business financing does not tell the whole story, but it is important context. A clear inquiry identifies each current obligation, its payment frequency, and why the business is considering additional funds.

MAKE YOUR REQUEST CLEARER
For each loan, lease or advance, record the payment amount, payment days, remaining balance estimate and provider. Use statements and contracts rather than memory. Daily, weekly and monthly obligations need to be put on the same dated calendar before comparing them.
Ask whether the proposal leaves existing payments in place or pays off a current obligation. Record the payoff amount, withheld fees, total new obligation and fresh cash reaching the bank. A headline advance amount is not the same as cash available for payroll or inventory. Do not enter an old payoff as a fee in the factor-rate calculator.
Illustrative numbers: an existing advance collects $250 on each of 20 payment days in a particular month, totaling $5,000. A proposed additional obligation collects $350 on those same 20 days, adding $7,000. Together they withdraw $12,000 that month, before operating expenses. Actual payment-day counts vary; use the written schedules and check the lowest cash balance during the month, not just the month-end total.
Ask which balances are actually being paid off, whether each old collection will stop, whether any obligations remain, and what the new total payback and fees will be. A lower recurring payment can accompany a longer commitment or higher total cost. Get payoff and release information from the relevant providers rather than assuming the new funding ends every prior obligation.
Identify existing liens, guarantees, invoice assignments or restrictions on additional financing and discuss unclear provisions with an appropriate adviser. Compare proposed payments with a period of lower customer collections. The ability to submit an inquiry does not establish that an additional obligation is permitted or affordable.
